A review of the 2019-11 cases in which a couple from Inner Mongolia received a pneumonic plague confirmation in Beijing, followed by 2 additional bubonic plague confirmations in Inner Mongolia. It uses the laboratory confirmation steps and source-tracking findings to offer a way to read unconfirmed outbreak reports critically.
