Is 5500 a long-term KOSPI range or a bottom? A W-shaped rebound and comeback signals for month 11
- What to look for
- Examine how a decline with falling trading activity is interpreted through holders’ psychology, market flows and corporate earnings.
- Why it matters
- Separate the different conditions behind a rebound forecast: price patterns, earnings assumptions and an investor’s capacity to bear losses.
Timeline
5 segmentsThe video presents both a return to pre-boom activity or range trading and an interpretation that declining volume during a price fall signals easing selling pressure. Trading value and volume must be distinguished, and lower activity alone cannot establish that selling interest has disappeared or a bottom is confirmed. Judging a rebound requires separate checks for changes in buying demand, prices, earnings and financing conditions.
An independent exercise, not a statement by the video creator or verification of every claim in the video.
Avoid treating a low P/E or large swings as evidence of returns
Hypothetical calculation: a price of 300 and annual earnings per share of 100 give a P/E of 3. Holding the price fixed, earnings per share of 30 give a P/E of 10, requiring a 70% earnings decline under these assumptions. This neither verifies the video’s specific earnings-decline explanation nor establishes 10 as a fair P/E; it shows how to check arithmetic while fixing the price and earnings basis. Separately, an asset worth 100 that rises 20% and then falls 20% passes through 120 and ends at 96, a total return of -4%. Large swings alone are therefore not evidence of profit. For an actual comparison, keep indexes separate from individual firms and align valuation dates, earnings periods, exchange rates, dividends and costs.
Check for yourself
- Does the P/E denominator use reported earnings or estimates for which period?
- Does the undervaluation conclusion survive a reduction in expected earnings?
- Have trading volume and trading value been distinguished, and has buying demand actually increased?
Limits of application
The hypothetical arithmetic produces neither fair value nor a trading signal. The return example excludes exchange rates, dividends, taxes and fees. The video’s specific P/E ratios, corporate earnings, dated share prices and rebound timing remain unverified, and the historical case does not establish a current bottom.
