Autumn averages and my money’s timetable

A fictional story exploring another perspective

Consider the risks when the market outlook and the time you need your money differ.

A retiree who saved for home repairs and a carpenter son consider a seasonal outlook, in the first 3 panels. This does not reenact real people or events.

ASSETCASTING commentary

An interpretation of the fictional story, not a statement by the original video creator.

Using a seasonal average requires looking not only at average returns but also at losses in unfavorable years and when the money was needed. Money earmarked for a scheduled expense such as repairs may not have time to recover from losses, even in a historically favorable season. Historical patterns and a person's spending schedule are different kinds of information; combining them does not guarantee this year's outcome.
