The bridge is there, so why can nobody cross?

A fictional story exploring another perspective

Consider the power and trust needed for agreement, and procedures for checking promises.

ASSETCASTING commentary

An interpretation of the fictional story, not a statement by the original video creator.

Completing a bridge and cooperating over its use are different tasks. The villages could agree in advance on access order, maintenance cost sharing, and a process for addressing violations. Starting at a small scale can also provide opportunities to observe the other side's behavior. Procedures do not resolve every conflict; the fictional case adds implementation and trust-maintenance costs to the account of shared benefits.
