Japan Is Not What It Used to Be, and It Differs from Korea | Prof. Seo Jun-sik, Soongsil University Economics Professor #2 [Monthly Seo Jun-sik]

What to look for
In this one video you can examine the evidence behind the diagnosis that Japanese manufacturing failed to revive despite the long weak yen, the logic for checking Korean exports amid won strength, and the expected fund flows of the productive finance ISA.
Why it matters
It helps you separately interpret how macro variables such as exchange rates and interest rates feed through into manufacturing competitiveness and stock market flows.

The text below is an ASSETCASTING author’s interpretation, not the original video creator’s statement or official position. Opinion itself does not replace fact-checking.

It feels like Japan stopped being what it used to be at least 5 years ago. Yen carry trades may now be building in Japan, seen or unseen, and I agree with a certain expert view that finds this credible given interest rate conditions. I believe excessive investment by global investors is masking this, so I intend to hold back aggressive investing and stick to splitting both buys and sells.
