- What to look for
- Examine how the panel compares large political spending with canvassing, volunteering and voter motivation.
- Why it matters
- Assess campaign coverage by distinguishing funding categories and timing, actual volunteer activity, polling samples and final turnout. This note summarizes the original video and does not reproduce the full transcript.
Timeline
3 segmentsThe panel discusses TV-ad effectiveness, digital spending and an interpretation that opposition to Trump motivates organizing. Distinguishing mobilization effects from pre-existing support requires separate comparison; motivation surveys, sign-ups and advertising totals alone cannot determine turnout or winning probabilities.

Reverse the direction between campaign activity and support
A district may show both strong support and many volunteers because activity persuaded voters, or because existing supporters volunteered. Record prior support, voter composition, actual contacts and turnout in time order. Advertising expenditure and volunteer registrations measure different things.
Check for yourself
- Is there a comparable district without an activity increase?
- Are registered volunteers distinguished from people who actually contacted voters?
